Software terms

Last updated 2026-10-27

These terms govern the use of the Chiselbase desktop software.

1. Provider and scope

The software is provided by Leon Hornig, trading as Chiselbase, Körnerstr. 3, 33818 Leopoldshöhe, Germany ("we"). These terms apply to all use of Chiselbase, including Free, the trial and paid plans.

Payments are processed by Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company acting as merchant of record. Its customer terms apply to the payment: https://link.com/terms#sold-through-link-terms. The contract language is English.

2. The software

Chiselbase is a desktop application for working with Firebase and Google Cloud projects. The features and system requirements are those described on this website at the time of your purchase.

Using Chiselbase requires your own Firebase or Google Cloud projects and, for the AI chat, your own account with an AI provider. These services, their availability and their costs are governed by your agreements with those providers and are not part of our offer.

3. License

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Chiselbase for the duration of your plan. A Pro license is personal: each person using Pro needs their own license.

One Pro license can be activated on up to 2 devices of the same person. Free may be used for private and commercial purposes.

You may not sell, rent or sublicense the software or circumvent the license check. Rights you have under mandatory copyright law remain unaffected. Open-source components are subject to their own licenses.

4. Free and trial

Free requires no account. The Pro trial is started in the app with an email verification code, runs for 14 days and is available once per email address. No payment details are needed, and the trial ends automatically without becoming a paid plan.

After the trial, Free keeps one cloud project available. When you choose the project to keep, the app removes the local connections, boards and stored credentials of the other projects. Data in your Firebase projects is not affected.

We may change the scope of Free and the trial, or stop offering them, for the future. If we stop offering Free, we announce it on this website at least 30 days beforehand. A trial that has already started runs to its end. Paid plans are not affected.

5. Subscriptions and cancellation

Pro is available as a monthly or annual subscription. The price, including taxes, is shown before you order and is charged in advance for each billing period.

A subscription renews automatically for the same billing period unless you cancel it before the current period ends. You can cancel at any time; the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. The first year of an annual subscription is binding. Consumers can cancel an annual subscription after its first year at any time with one month's notice; amounts paid in advance for the time after the cancellation takes effect are refunded.

You can cancel via https://chiselbase.com/cancel/ or through the link in your purchase confirmation. When the subscription ends, the app returns to Free.

  • Cancellation and right of withdrawal

6. Price changes

We may offer a subscription at a new price for future billing periods. We will send you the new price by email at least 30 days before it is to apply and ask for your consent.

The new price applies only if you agree to it. If you do not agree by the date given in the email, your subscription ends at the end of the billing period running on that date. You keep Pro until then and pay nothing more.

A price change never applies to a billing period you have already paid for.

7. License checks and updates

Activating Pro requires an internet connection. The app checks the license regularly, as described in the privacy notice. Without a successful check, Pro features can stop working after some time.

We provide updates to keep the software secure and compatible with Google's services.

We may change the software beyond that only for one of these valid reasons: (a) changes to Google’s or other third-party services or interfaces the software relies on, (b) security, (c) new legal or regulatory requirements, (d) new operating system versions or other technical environments, (e) an increase in the cost of a third-party service or licence a feature depends on, to the extent that continuing to offer the feature would be unreasonable for us, or (f) improving or adding features, provided the essential features described when you bought the plan remain available. We may remove a feature only for reasons (a) to (e).

A change never costs you anything extra, and we inform you clearly about it. If a change impairs your access to or use of a paid plan more than insignificantly, we inform you by email in good time before it takes effect. The email says what changes, from when, and that you may end the contract free of charge within 30 days of receiving it or, if later, of the change. We refund amounts paid for the time after the contract ends (Section 327r of the German Civil Code, BGB).

8. Your responsibility for your data

Chiselbase works on real project data. Write and delete operations take effect immediately in your Firebase or Google Cloud project, and undo cannot reverse every operation. Before confirming an action, check the project, environment and operation. Keep regular backups of important data.

Use Chiselbase only with projects and data you are authorised to access. You decide which data you share with AI providers and external agents. Keep your license key and credentials safe.

Answers in the AI chat are generated by the provider you choose and can be wrong. Actions suggested by the AI chat or carried out by an external agent count as your actions. Check them before you confirm them.

9. Misuse of a license

If you breach the license terms, for example by sharing or selling a license key or circumventing the license check, we may deactivate the affected license. We first ask you to stop, unless the breach is so serious that we cannot reasonably wait, for example when a key has been published. If we deactivate a license, the contract for that license ends with the deactivation, and we refund amounts paid for the time after it. You can object by email, and we will review your objection. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

10. Ending Chiselbase or a plan

We may end a subscription with at least one month’s notice by email, and only for a valid reason: in particular if we stop offering Chiselbase or the plan, if a third-party service or licence it depends on is no longer available to us, or if legal requirements prevent us from providing it. During the first year of an annual subscription, we may end it only for good cause or with effect from the end of that year. If a subscription ends before a billing period you have paid for is over, we refund the amount paid for the remaining time without undue delay.

After the end, we are no longer obliged to provide updates, license checks or other online services for that plan. Data in your Firebase and Google Cloud projects is not affected.

11. Transfer to a new owner

We may transfer the contract with you to a third party that takes over Chiselbase and all our obligations under this contract. We will tell you by email in advance and name the new provider. Within 30 days of that email, you may end the contract with effect from the transfer, and we refund amounts paid for the time after that.

12. Changes to these terms

We change these terms for an existing subscription only with your consent. We will send you the proposed changes by email at least 30 days before they are to apply. If you do not agree by the date given, your subscription ends at the end of the billing period running on that date.

For a trial, the version in force when the trial started applies until it ends. For Free, a changed version applies only after we have announced it on this website at least 30 days in advance; you can stop using Free at any time.

13. Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Chiselbase without any obligation to you. This does not transfer ownership of your content and does not affect your data protection rights.

14. No guarantee

Descriptions of the software on this website, in the app and in documentation describe its features. They are not a guarantee (Section 443 BGB). We give no guarantee that the software works without interruption or errors, or that third-party services such as Google or AI providers remain available or unchanged.

For paid plans, the statutory rights in case of defects apply.

15. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and for defects we fraudulently concealed.

For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation, meaning an obligation whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that is foreseeable and typical for this type of contract. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded.

Free and the trial are provided free of charge. For them, we are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and for defects only if we fraudulently concealed them; the first paragraph of this section remains unaffected.

For loss of data, we are liable only for the effort that would have been needed to restore it from regular backups appropriate to the risk. These limitations also apply to anyone we engage to fulfil our obligations.

16. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually reside.

If you are a merchant or a legal entity under public law, the place of jurisdiction is our place of business. Statutory rules on consumer jurisdiction remain unaffected.

We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest of the terms remain valid. The statutory provisions apply in place of the invalid provision.
